About the role

We are a small team of engineers working on the full product life cycle from initial design and prototyping, through to manufacture and customer support. We are looking for enthusiastic software engineers to join us to further develop and support the software in our existing products, as well as work on the design and implementation of the software in future products. Depending on the skills and interests of the candidates, this could be writing firmware to run on the microcontrollers inside our products, working with electronics consultants on the system architecture, designing the user interface or developing Windows applications to work with our products.

Job Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and testing code changes in our current products.

• Working with biologists to understand their requirements to feed into developments.

• Providing technical support for users.

• Working on the design and development of new products.

• Contributing to documentation, eg. internal documentation, release notes, user manuals etc.

Requirements (Essential)

• Undergraduate 2:1 degree in a technical subject.

• Good programming experience in C or C++ or Visual Basic.

• Experience with version control such as Git.

• Good documentation and communication skills.

Requirements (Desirable)

• Experience working with microcontrollers and/or Arduino.

• Knowledge of Python and/or scripting languages.

• Basic understanding of biology.

• Experience with image recognition software.

• Interest in user interface design.

• Experience with motion control software and/or GCode.

• Experience with product compliance testing, eg. CE certification.

• Basic understanding of electronics.
